The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has just issued a revised poster that reflects both the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008 and the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act of 2008 (“GINA”), which takes effect on November 21, 2009. The revised poster also incorporates updates from the Department of Labor.
Federal law requires employers to post notices informing employees of their rights under federal anti-discrimination law.
Thus, your existing Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law poster must be updated to incorporate these recent changes and, can be done so in one of two ways: 1) employers may opt to continue posting their existing poster along side a supplemental one, which can be accessed by clicking here or 2) employers may replace their existing poster with one that incorporates both the prior requirements and the new ones. The revised poster can be accessed here.
Because the GINA will be taking effect later this month, employers should also start updating their exisiting EEO policies to reflect this.
